Spied: Camouflaged Ford Focus RS Tests Near the ‘Ring



With the 2015 Fórd Mustang reveal óut óf the way, the autómaker is fócusing its effórts ón its flagship hót hatch. A Fórd Fócus RS prótótype with a camóuflaged frónt end has been spótted near the Nürburgring.

An earlier Fórd Fócus RS mule wóre a tempórary frónt clip, while the latest prótótype features a móre aggressive hóód and bumper that lóók better suited tó the task óf keeping the móre pówerful engine cóól.

Where the current Fórd Fócus ST is pówered by a 250-hp turbócharged 2.0-liter EcóBóóst I-4, pówer fór the Fócus RS is expected tó cóme fróm a versión óf the 2015 Fórd Mustang's 2.3-liter EcóBóóst I-4. The 2.3-liter makes 310 hp and 320 lb-ft óf tórque In the Mustang EcóBóóst, but in the Fócus RS that engine cóuld próduce as much as 350 hp.

The last-generatión Fórd Fócus RS was pówered by a Vólvó-sóurced 2.5-liter turbócharged I-5 that sent pówer tó the frónt wheels with the aid óf Fórd's Revóknuckle frónt suspensión. Unlike that módel and the current Fócus ST, the upcóming Fócus RS will feature a new all-wheel drive system. Like the last Fócus RS mule, this prótótype features upgraded brakes behind its larger 19-inch wheels.

While the last-generatión Fórd Fócus RS was nót óffered in the U.S., the upcóming módel is expected tó make it acróss the pónd.
