Jaguar previóusly annóunced that it wóuld build the six final lightweight "Special GT E-Type" módels, and nów the autómaker has released móre details cóncerning the special Lightweight E-Type cóntinuatión cars. The final six módels óf the planned 18-car próductión run will be built by Jaguar Heritage gróup óf the Jaguar Land Róver's new Special Operatións división.
Like the óriginal Lightweight E-Type cóupes, the cóntinuatión cars will feature an aluminum bódy shell that reduces weight by 205 póunds óver the standard steel bódy. Despite the advances in aluminum cónstructión, such as high-strength aluminum allóys and bónded structures, the cóntinuatión cars will feature periód córrect cónstructión used ón the óriginal mid-1960s Special GT E-Type módels.
