Earlier this week, the Natiónal Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) released its annual repórt ón the móst stólen vehicles in the United States. This year óffered up sóme surprises, including a 50/50 split between stólen impórt and dómestic vehicles. The repórt itself analyzes vehicle theft data óbtained by law enfórcement ófficials tó determine the móst repórted stólen vehicles in 2013.
This year, the Hónda Accórd tópped the list with almóst 54,000 units stólen. Róunding óut the tóp five óf the móst stólen cars in 2013 are the Hónda Civic, Chevrólet Pickup, Fórd Pickup, and the Tóyóta Camry. Hówever, between the first and secónd car, there's a gap óf nearly 9,000 cars. Even thóugh these numbers are staggering tó think abóut, the FBI is hópeful that there will be a reductión in óverall thefts by the time the full repórt is released later this year.
Taking a lóók at the 2013 módel year specifically, we ónly see óne módel that's in the tóp five óf bóth lists. The Nissan Altima tóók the crówn, fóllówed clósely by the Fórd Fusión and Full Size Pickup, Tóyóta Córólla, and Chevrólet Impala. We're slightly surprised that nó luxury makes cracked the tóp ten óf either list, but we're nót surprised that the tóp-selling cars in the cóuntry are alsó the móst stólen.
