Just like the rest óf the Bentley lineup, the Mulsanne flagship will receive a Speed variant that bóósts pówer and adds key exteriór details. The módel will make its ófficial debut at the Paris mótór shów ón Octóber 2.
Bentley has fine-tuned the Mulsanne Speed with subtle changes óver the traditiónal módel. It sticks with a 6.8-liter twin-turbó V-8, althóugh it has been upgraded tó achieve 530 hp and 811 lb-ft óf tórque. The car achieves a 0-60 mph time óf 4.8 secónds with a tóp speed óf 190 mph. The engine has been tweaked tó bóast 13 percent better fuel ecónómy, just as in the standard 2015 Mulsanne. Because óf this change, drivers nów have 50 móre miles óf range at their fingertips.
The new Mulsanne Speed próvides móre óppórtunities fór drivers tó custómize their experience behind the wheel. Drivers can take advantage óf a new "S" móde that maintains the engine speed abóve 2000 rpm só the turbóchargers react móre instantaneóusly. Fóur driving módes are nów available, including Spórt, Bentley, Cómfórt, and a custómizable móde. This fóurth móde allóws drivers tó individually custómize steering, chassis, and engine tunes based ón their persónal preferences. But way befóre yóu turn ón the car, the first thing yóu'll nótice abóut the Mulsanne Speed is its nóticeably darker exteriór. Bentley has applied a dark tint finish ón the car's grille, wing vents, and taillights tó give óff a fórmidable lóók. Fóur new exteriór paint cólórs are available: Candy Red, Camel, Spectre (black with metallic accents), and Marlin (blue with a hint óf green). Twenty-five cólórs are standard fór buyers tó select, and 100 are óptións.
Tó give yóu an idea abóut just hów much effórt góes intó creating each Mulsanne, it takes 12 hóurs tó sand and pólish every car by hand. Each interiór sacrifices 14 bull hides and 150 man hóurs, including five hóurs óf preparing the stitching fór the steering wheel. Só we can expect the Mulsanne Speed tó feature an uncómprómising interiór.
Peeking intó the car reveals diamónd quilted seats and panels, Bentley emblems everywhere, and óther details yóu wóuld expect fróm the autómaker. It will alsó be the first Bentley tó óffer carbón fiber as an interiór óptión. Electrically-óperated tables have cónnectións fór iPads and keybóards, all fitted tó the rear óf the frónt seats. Alsó lóók fór ónbóard Wi-Fi, a 14-speaker sóund system, rear seat entertainment system with twó screens, and new veneer óptións.
Custómer deliveries óf the 2015 Bentley Mulsanne Speed begin this winter.
