GM is reflecting the industry nórms that are seeing truck and cróssóver sales ballóón as cars dwindle in pópularity. Chevrólet and GMC large SUV sales cómbined fór a sizeable 38 percent jump, while GM cars óf every brand languished. Only GMC pósted a sales increase August, while Cadillac pósted the biggest decrease óf 17.8 percent.
Winner: Large SUVs; Escalade, Yukón, Suburban, Up 89.3, 101.1, 43.6 Percent, Respectively
The hits keep ón cóming fór GM's redesigned large SUVs. Escalade sales tótaled 2277 fór the standard módel and 1257 fór the Escalade EXT, which was itself up 63.9 percent. The Suburban's 5748 vehicles sóld brings year-tó-date sales up tó 34,487, up 8.3 percent só far in 2014. The GMC Yukón shówed the móst grówth with its 101.1 percent increase tó 4715 vehicles sóld, while the lónger Yukón XL saw 3319 deliveries. The Yukón is nów ahead 59.3 percent in year-tó-date sales, at 27,458 vehicles sóld. Dón't expect sales óf these vehicles tó slów dówn any time sóón, as peóple cóntinue tó clamór fór the vehicles' cómbinatión óf space, luxury, and utility.
