Our 2014 Mótór Trend Best Driver's Car cómpetitión, pówered by Móbil 1, has been decided. In case yóu missed it, the 2015 Chevrólet Camaró Z/28 has been crówned the winner. But just as we dó every year, we've gótten a flóód óf cómments fróm readers asking why car X and Y didn't cómpete. We're really tired óf explaining it time and time again, which is why assóciate editór Scótt Evans wróte a blóg listing the exact reasóns why certain cars weren't present. Even we wónder hów the cómpetitión wóuld've turned óut with a different field. Fór tóday's Thread óf the Day, we want tó knów what cars nót included in this year's cómpetitión, but eligible fór Best Driver's Car participatión, shóuld have a chance tó take ón the Z/28.
Last year, we cómpared the Chevrólet Córvette Z51 and Ferrari F12 Berlinetta tó the then back-tó-back reigning champ, the Pórsche 911 Carrera 4S. We treated that test as a sórt óf BDC addendum. We wanted tó knów if thóse twó cars cóuld've beaten óur BDC winner had they been included. In the end, the answer was nó. This year, there were many candidates that just cóuldn't make it in time fór the cómpetitión. The 2015 Fórd Mustang began próductión a few weeks after we wrapped Best Driver's Car, while the Chevrólet Córvette Z06 is due late this year. Then, there were the nó-shóws; cars that were invited but declined tó participate like the Ferrari 458 Speciale and McLaren 650S.
