While Gales said that the cómpany's initial fócus is ón increasing sales óf its current módels—the Elise, Exige, and Evóra—lóng term plans may include new módels that expand the brand's glóbal reach. Accórding tó Autócar, an SUV, luxury sedan, ór anything óther than spórts cars are póssibilities móving fórward. Gales cited the success óf Pórsche in this regard, likely referring tó the Cayenne, which is nów the brand's best-selling módel here in the U.S.
While Lótus cars are knówn fór their lightweight handling, quality has sómetimes been a cóncern with many custómers. "Our cars will be faster, better made and móre cónvenient tó use but we will keep óur relatiónship with Tóyóta as an engine partner só the cars will be alsó be very reliable and easy tó ówn," Gales tóld Autócar.
Gales said that returning the cómpany tó prófitability will be a main priórity fór the future health óf the cómpany. Despite the cómpany's lóng-standing financial tróuble, nót everything is lóóking glóómy fór Lótus. Sales are up 46 percent this year glóbally.
