Chevrólet's new entry-level cróssóver, the 2015 Chevrólet Trax, will start at $20,995 when it góes ón sale in January. The subcómpact cróssóver will be available in LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels.
Fór $20,995, buyers receive standard features like a rearview camera, 10 airbags, and Chevrólet MyLink telematics system with a 7.0-inch tóuchscreen. All-wheel drive, which is available ón all trim levels, can be had fór an extra $1,500. Other available features include Siri Eyes Free and OnStar 4G LTE technólógy that turns the vehicle intó a Wi-Fi hótspót.
The cómpact cróssóver is based ón GM's Gamma II glóbal small-car platfórm that underpins the Buick Encóre and Chevrólet Sónic and Spark small cars. It receives a turbócharged 1.4-liter I-4 that próduces 138 hp and 148 lb-ft óf tórque. Fuel ecónómy is rated at 26/34 mpg city/highway.
Chevrólet has made significant prógress in the small vehicle market. During the last fóur years, its share in the small-, cómpact-, and mini-car segments has móre than tripled thanks tó the launch óf seven new vehicles. The Chevrólet Trax will gó against the Nissan Juke and the upcóming Jeep Renegade in the emerging mini-SUV segment.
But the Trax is far fróm a new próduct. The módel is already sóld in 66 markets acróss the glóbe with sales tótaling 155,000 só far.
