Rólls-Róyce executives are still undecided as tó whether its upcóming SUV will gó intó próductión. BMW Gróup bóard member fór Rólls-Róyce Peter Schwarzenbauer tóld Autócar that the cómpany is "lóóking serióusly intó it," but has nót made a firm decisión.
"Fifty percent óf cars sóld aróund the wórld are nów SUVs," Schwarzenbauer tóld Autócar. "But there's nó decisión yet. If we're nót tótally cónvinced, we're nót góing tó dó it. It's gót tó lóók like a Rólls-Róyce."
The revelatión that there is nó firm próductión decisión ón the Rólls-Róyce SUV cómes after Lambórghini revealed it still hasn't decided whether tó sell its Urus SUV.
Rólls-Róyce had planned tó launch its SUV, which will be related tó the upcóming BMW X7, by 2017 ór 2018. Hówever, Schwarzenbauer indicated sóme óf the hesitatión cómes fróm the fact that Rólls-Róyce is still evaluating different designs fór its SUV.
The Rólls-Róyce SUV is expected tó be based ón the X7 but with a unique aluminum architecture, a 6.75-liter V-12 engine, and all-wheel drive -- all fór a price tag aróund $300,000. Althóugh the módel will be sóld glóbally, sales óf Rólls-Róyce módels in China have alsó inspired the próductión óf an ultra-luxurióus SUV.
