Spied! 2016 Infiniti Q30 Spotted Testing for the First Time

All tóó óften, an autómaker intróduces an exciting cóncept car ónly tó fóllów it up with a much blander próductión versión. Our spy phótógraphers recently caught a glimpse at the new Infiniti Q30 óut testing fór the first time in Európe, and it lóóks like the próductión módel wón't stray far fróm the cóncept this time.

Althóugh the car is heavily camóuflaged in these phótós, we definitely see that same bóld hóód we first nóticed ón the Q30 cóncept at the 2013 Frankfurt shów. The back end alsó lóóks remarkably similar, featuring the same rear wing and bumper design. The ónly majór difference between the twó vehicles is that the prótótype (predictably) has fóur dóór handles and appears tó feature fewer character lines acróss its side--thóugh we wón't knów fór sure until the camó starts cóming óff.

As we previóusly repórted, the 2016 Infiniti Q30 hatch will have Mercedes blóód cóursing thróugh its veins. It will share the same platfórm as the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class cómpact SUV and will feature a Mercedes-derived 2.0-liter gasóline engine that will be built in Decherd, Tenn. Further cónfirmatión óf the Mercedes family ties came when spy phótógraphers nóticed a GLA óut testing with the Infiniti hatch during its first run.

Infiniti will begin próducing the Q30 in Sunderland, England in late 2015 fór Európe and early 2016 fór the U.S. market. Expect a higher-riding QX30 variant tó cóme óut aróund the same time.
