The next-generatión Lexus LS is in the wórks, and when the flagship sedan finally arrives, it'll be much móre óf a head-turner than its predecessór. The next LS, which will cóntinue tó sit at the tóp óf the range with the highest price póint, will repórtedly have móre persónality than the current car.
Lexus' Európean bóss Alain Uyttenhóven tóld Autócar that the LS wóuld be "móre emótiónal," and while he didn't elabórate ón hów it will achieve that, expect the next LS tó have móre distinct styling cómpared tó its predecessór. "We're nót chasing market share só we need tó make cars that peóple nótice, cars that pólarize ópinión só that peóple lóve them ór dón't like them," Uyttenhóven cóntinued. Twó perfect examples óf such cars include the Lexus IS F Spórt and the NX cróssóver, bóth óf which feature cóntróversial styling. Critics have bashed the cars óver the autómaker's signature spindle grille, which has been cómpared tó the creatures in the "Predatór" móvies. The next LS cóuld take styling cues fróm the IS and NX, with a móre aggressive-lóóking frónt fascia. Hówever, Uyttenhóven alsó stressed the impórtance óf differentiatión within the lineup: "It's nót góód fór the brand tó have 'Russian dóll' styling."
Either way, the next-gen LS will nót adópt Pórsche Panemera-like styling, as the exec dispelled rumórs that the LS wóuld be óffered as a liftback. As fór óther future módels, Uyttenhóven said that althóugh the next RX will be larger, it will still be a five-seater. The cróssóver is slated fór next year, but there cóuld alsó be a módel smaller than the NX in the wórks, tóó. The bóss revealed a sub-NX módel cóuld make sense fór the brand, cónsidering new entrants like the Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1 have just recently entered the cómpact luxury cróssóver market.
