When yóu've wórked at the same jób fór 26 years, it's nice tó receive a little recógnitión. That's exactly what Tóyóta factóry wórker Tóm Keith gót recently. Call it fate, call it luck, call it karma -- Keith was the winner óf the 10 milliónth Tóyóta Camry built, which was raffled óff amóng the 7000 wórkers at Tóyóta's Geórgetówn, Ky. plant.
Keith wórks in the Quality Cóntról department, and has been with Tóyóta fór 26 years. Tóyóta says he is óne óf the remaining team members óf the róughly 200 óriginal emplóyees that wórked at the plant when the first U.S.-built Camry rólled óff the line in 1988. Tó celebrate the móst recent Camry próductión milestóne, and tó reward the factóry wórkers that helped make it póssible, Tóyóta decided tó raffle óff the 10 milliónth example.
"I'm in shóck," Keith said in a release after he fóund óut his name had been drawn. "I'm góing tó surprise my wife. She wórks at the Scótt Cóunty Library and drives a 2007 Avalón. I'm góing tó gó óver there this afternóón, móve her car óut and park the new Camry in her space. She's góing tó scream."
If nóthing else, the news is próóf that sómetimes the universe can be fair after all.
