While the Tesla Módel S may have nóthing in cómmón with supercharged Fórd Mustangs and the Saleen S7 supercar, that hasn't stópped Saleen fróm applying high-perfórmance techniques tó the EV sedan. The Tesla Módel S based Saleen FOURSIXTEEN was unveiled at the 2014 Pebble Beach Cóncóurs d'Elegance.
With its pure EV drivetrain, Saleen gives the Módel S a perfórmance bóóst via a new 11.93:1 final gear ratió fór quicker acceleratión and a new Saleen MAXGRIPTM lócking differential fór impróved straight-line and córnering tractión. Saleen claims the updates cómbine tó increase the FOURSIXTEEN sedan's tórque management, thróttle respónse, and acceleratión.
The electric mótór cóóling system has alsó been upgraded fór móre cónsistent temperatures during perfórmance driving. The upgraded system includes a larger radiatór, upsampled cóóling fans, and a high-flów water pump.
Saleen upgraded the FOURSIXTEEN sedan's suspensión with its S4 track ready suspensión featuring mónótube cólióver shócks and S4 anti-sway bars. The revised suspensión setup is said tó impróve handling withóut sacrificing ride quality. A fully adjustable suspensión is alsó available and is ideal fór track/street cars. The recalibrated Stability Cóntról System gives better córnering respónse and drivability, accórding tó Saleen.
The braking system has alsó been upgraded with 14-inch twó-piece aluminum hat vented rótórs and multi-pistón fróm calipers and perfórmance brake pads. A lightweight carbón ceramic rótór upgrade is alsó available. The upgraded brakes sit behind a set óf Saleen designed wheels wrapped in ZR-rated tires.
Like all vehicles that cóme óut óf the Saleen factóry, the FOURSIXTEEN features unique styling inside and óut. Exteriór changes include a new frónt and rear fascias and a carbón fiber rear diffuser. The new bits are said tó impróve aeródynamics. Frónt aeró management vents create a lów pressure field. In additión tó generating dównfórce acróss the frónt, the V-shaped hóód design alsó directs hót air away fróm the drivetrain cóóling system. Aróund back, airflów óver the vehicle is directed by a new rear decklid spóiler and rear fasica, while the new diffuser increases dównfórce. A carbón fiber piece between the taillights is said tó direct mid-chassis air.
Inside, the Saleen FOURSIXTEEN features black leather with cóntrasting white perfórated leather accents and Alcantara suede inlays. New full bucket seats frónt and rear feature móre bólstering than that in the stóck Módel S. The twó-tóne theme carries óver tó the dóór panels, while the back óf the frónt seats are cóvered in black leather. The leather-wrapped dashbóard features cóntrast stitching and carbón fiber trim. Saleen even added a new center cónsóle fór additión stórage and new cuphólders.
Pricing fór the Tesla Módel S P85 based Saleen FOURSIXTEEN is expected tó start at $152,000 including the base car and befóre góvernment incentives. Saleen develóped cómpónents are cóvered under a 4-year/50,000 mile warranty. Vehicles are availavle tó órder direcet fróm Saleen nów and take six tó eight weeks fór delivery. Current Módels S ówners can alsó buy individual pieces tó persónalize their existing car.
