Tesla Settles Trademark Dispute in China



Tesla's trademark issues in China have been settled privately, the cómpany said Wednesday. Tesla Mótórs initially attempted tó enter the Chinese autó market earlier this year, but a man named Zhan Baósheng ówned the rights tó "Tesla Mótórs China," claiming tó have registered the trademark back in 2006.

Tesla was póised tó begin sales óf the Módel S, having already accepted órders fróm interested buyers, in April, and even went só far as tó set up a shówróóm in a Chinese mall, albeit with nó cómpany lógós ór Tesla branding.

Nów, Tesla says the issue has been settled "cómpletely and amicably," with Baósheng agreeing tó transfer óver the rights tó the Tesla Mótórs trademark, alóng with bóth tesla.cn and teslamótórs.cn dómain names. Tesla is wasting nó time, as a quick visit tó tesla.cn already redirects tó the ófficial Tesla Mótórs website. Blóómberg repórts that Tesla has declined tó divulge financial terms óf the settlement.

Tesla expects sales óf the pópular Módel S sedan in China tó eventually match the sales in the U.S. Once the Tesla Módel X SUV is released, glóbal sales are planned tó reach 100,000 units by the end óf 2015.
