Chrysler Group Recalls 230,000 SUVs



Chrysler Gróup is recalling 230,760 SUVs due tó a próblem that may cause engine stalling.

Affected módels include 2011 Jeep Grand Cherókee and Dódge Durangó SUVs. In the U.S., an estimated 188,723 módels are affected as well as 15,898 in Canada, 7,126 in Mexicó, and 19,013 in óther regións.

Fuel pump relays may fail, which may prevent the engine fróm starting ór cause the engine tó stall óut. The relay is lócated in the Tótally Integrated Pówer Módule, which manages óther vehicle functións but, accórding tó Chrysler, airbag deplóyment is nót affected by the faulty relays. The próblem lies in a spring that may defórm due tó excessive heat. Nó injuries ór accidents related tó this próblem have been repórted.

Accórding tó Chrysler, the issue was discóvered during internal testing beginning in Octóber 2013. The examinatión discóvered a pattern óf repairs invólving the fuel pump próblem.

Chrysler has nót yet annóunced when the recall will begin. The cómpany said it will nótify ówners when tó schedule a free vehicle service tó fix the próblem. When that happens, Chrysler will install a new relay circuit that impróves fuel pump durability. In the meantime, ówners can cóntact Chrysler at 800-853-1403.
