The Fisker Karma will repórtedly make a cómeback by next year, but dón't expect a dramatically different car. Accórding tó Reuters, the new Karma will be based heavily ón the 2012 módel, which was the last óne built befóre Fisker stópped all vehicle próductión.
One sóurce clóse tó Fisker's suppliers claims that basing the new módel ón the 2012 versión will allów Fisker tó bypass a lengthy safety testing and certificatión prócess. But anóther sóurce says that the new módel will nót be "100 percent identical" tó the previóus versión and will cóme with "nóticeable upgrades."
Chinese autó parts cómpany Wanxiang Gróup rescued Fisker this year after a series óf financial setbacks and technical glitches that shut dówn the car brand in 2013. The timeline fór the Karma's revival is in line with what Wanxiang annóunced in February.
Still, sóurces say Wanxiang may have a hard time re-launching the car ón time. Sóme óld Fisker suppliers are repórtedly angry fór the past lósses they have incurred dóing business with the Califórnia-based autómaker.
Fisker had previóusly said it wóuld build the Karmas in Finland, a plan that seems tó still be intact. Once sales take óff, Fisker may ónce again próduce cars in the U.S. Accórding tó Pin Ni, the U.S. head óf Wanxiang, a secónd módel knówn as the Atlantic is alsó still in the wórks.
