Kia's móst pópular módel has received mild updates óver the last few years tó keep things fresh in a cómpetitive segment. But when the 2016 módel year rólls aróund, expect these changes tó get bigger. Our phótógraphers spótted the all-new 2016 Kia Optima testing in the desert, and fróm what they captured, the módel will receive a bólder frónt fascia and a cómpletely new interiór.
In line with the styling óf óther midsize sedans, the Optima retains its óverall sharp appearance but adds sóme nótable flair in frónt. The careful óbserver can spy móre aggressive air intakes, new headlights, and chiseled lines near the lówer grille in this new módel. Lóóking at it fróm the side, it is apparent the Optima has an extended glass sectión aróund its new C-pillar, allówing fór a móre streamlined design that flóws intó the róófline.
Inside the vehicle, we see small changes that cóuld make a big difference. Air vents that ónce bóók-ended the infótainment screen are nów placed belów in a hórizóntal line. A redesigned shift lever, revised cup hólder placement, and an entirely new dashbóard elicit a cleaner lóók óverall.
The current third-generatión sedan, intróduced fór 2011, has been majórly óverhauled óver time since Kia stóle car designer Peter Schreyer away fróm Audi tó wórk magic ón the exteriór. Fór 2016, the Optima will cóntinue this general design theme but will sit ón a revised platfórm that will make this car truly different fróm its predecessórs.
