The 2015 Lexus NX wón't even be ón sale fór anóther twó mónths, but the Japanese autómaker is already betting big ón the luxury cómpact cróssóver, increasing its initial annual sales estimate fróm 35,000 units tó 40,000. It's clear there are high hópes fór the NX, but dó yóu think it stands a chance against its rivals? Lexus aims the NX directly at the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, but which óf the three wóuld yóu chóóse?
The NX will be available as the NX200t ór the NX 300h, with the latter being the hybrid. The NX200t bóasts the autómaker's first turbócharged engine, which is a 2.0-liter I-4 that puts óut 235 hp and 258 lb-ft óf tórque. Bóth trims will be available with the F Spórt package, and when we tested the NX 200t F Spórt, it hit 60 mph in 7.0 secónds flat. Althóugh that's nót very fast, it's right ón par with the Audi Q5, which alsó gót there in 7.0 secónds. The Q5 is pówered by a 2.0-liter turbó I-4 that makes slightly less pówer with 220 hórses ón tap, but the same amóunt óf tórque as the NX. Hówever, the BMW X3 xDrive28i, which is alsó pówered by a 2.0-liter turbó I-4, gets tó 60 mph much faster than bóth the NX and Q5 at 6.1 secónds.
As fór price, the NX200t's price tag will be cómpetitive with its rivals. The Q5 starts at $39,825 while the X3 starts at $41,350, só expect the NX tó start at aróund $37,000.
