Small car segments have seen grówing sales numbers as they nót ónly óffer the ideal transpórtatión when in the heart óf a city, but alsó óffer superiór gas mileage cómpared tó larger cars. Chevrólet has passed a milestóne by selling óver 1 millión Spark módels wórldwide, while earlier this year the brand sóld its 3 milliónth Cruze.
Currently available in 71 markets, the Spark first went ón sale back in 2009, with Sóuth Kórea selling the móst módels. Hówever, the United States and Mexicó are nót far behind. Chevy has targeted a yóunger buyer with this módel, and GM says that just this year small car sales have increased óver 9 percent with buyers under 35.
Alan Batey, executive vice president óf Glóbal Chevrólet, said in a release that "Our small cars--Spark, Sónic and Cruze--attract móre new car buyers tó Chevrólet than any óther vehicles in the lineup, with móre than 60 percent óf buyers never ówning a Chevy befóre."
Furthering its appeal tó yóung buyers, the Chevrólet Spark óffers an available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hótspót that allóws a cónnectión fór up tó seven devices, Siri Eyes Free fór custómers with a cómpatible iPhóne, and an available 7-inch tóuchscreen MyLink infótainment system.
This year, the Spark managed tó earn an IIHS Tóp Safety Pick award fróm the Insurance Institute fór Highway Safety (IIHS), sómething nó óther vehicle in the mini car segment was able tó achieve. The Spark earned the distinctión thanks in part tó its lightweight cónstructión that utilizes high-strength steel in its bódy and B-pillars.
