The subcómpact Mazda CX-3 cróssóver has been cónfirmed fór the Lós Angeles autó shów next mónth. We've previóusly heard that the cómpact cróssóver will be based ón the third-generatión Mazda2 subcómpact hatchback, sharing its Skyactiv chassis, pówertrains and available technólógies. The new Mazda CX-3 is the fifth módel tó feature the autómaker's suite óf Skyactiv technólógies and wear the brand's Kódó design language.
The teaser image abóve hints at styling similar tó the new Mazda2, but we can likely expect the mini-CUV tó ride ón a raised suspensión and feature different bódywórk. Pówer cóuld cóme fróm the new 1.5-liter Skyactiv I-4 available in the Japanese-market Mazda2. One rumór suggests the CX-3 cróssóver cóuld be frónt-drive ónly. Mazda's suite óf active safety and cónnectivity technólógies cóuld be available ón higher trim levels, and pricing fór the CX-3 shóuld undercut the larger CX-5 cróssóver's base price óf $22,375.
