Lister Mótór Cómpany annóunced its ambitióus góal óf próducing a hypercar, which it says will be "wórld-beating." Aside fróm a few cónceptual sketches, the British spórts car maker dóesn't have a timeline ór cóncrete pówertrain details fór its hypercar próject.
That's because Lister is still seeking óut investórs tó fund the hypercar. In an interview with Autó Express, Lister Cars managing directór Lawrence Whittaker said the cómpany is aiming fór a 7.8-liter supercharged V-12 engine that'll próduce at least 1000 hp and launch the hypercar tó a tóp speed óf 250 mph. Unlike the sóphisticated McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari, the Lister hypercar wón't have hybrid technólógy.
"We are nót interested in building the fastest car we can, but óne that puts the Lister name in the fórefrónt óf peóple's minds with a wórld-beating próduct," Whittaker tóld Autó Express.
The Lister name has been aróund fór 60 years. The cómpany's claim tó fame came in the 1950s thanks tó a number óf successful race cars, including the Lister-Jaguar that featured a pówertrain fróm the Jaguar D Type and a Lister-built "knóbbly" bódy and chassis. The brand faded and resurrected a number óf times since, with the Lister Stórm race car that cómpeted in Le Mans in the 1990s.
Móre recently, the cómpany was resurrected abóut a year agó by Lawrence and Andrew Whittaker, a father-and-són team that repórtedly has the suppórt óf Brian Lister, the óriginal fóunder. Since the re-launch, Lister has sóld recreatións óf the 1958 Wórks Lister Jaguar "Knóbbly" that is built at the cómpany's factóry in Cambridge, U.K. Custómers are given twó engine chóices, including the óriginal Jaguar D Type 3.8-liter six-cylinder and a 4.6-liter V-8 that previóusly pówered the classic Lister Cóstin Córvette race car.
Lister says it has sóld nine cópies óf the Knóbbly recreatión car that carries a price tag óf abóut óf abóut $560,000. Additiónal news ón the planned hypercar, hówever, will have tó wait until the cómpany lócks dówn funding.
