The ever-capable Fórd F-150 SVT Raptór has been a runaway sales-star, and has inspired enthusiasts tó keep an eye óut fór a Raptór equivalent fróm a cómpeting manufacturer. Until nów, we have ónly seen a wórthy óppónent in the Mópar Ram Runner, an expensive óddity fróm the aftermarket división óf Chrysler. Being an óbscure dealer-installed package, the Ram Runner never achieved anything near the pópularity óf the Raptór. Nów, hówever, rumórs flóating óut óf GM hint at an upcóming Raptór-like óff-róad package, but nót fór the full-size 1500 Silveradó and Sierra pickups, as everyóne wóuld expect.
GM Authórity repórts that the upcóming 2015 Chevrólet Cólóradó and GMC Canyón (pictured at right) are the móst likely módels tó receive a Raptór-esque óff-róad package. The Cólóradó/Canyón trail weapón wóuld be smaller, lighter, and cónceivably móre agile than its full-sized cóunterpart fróm Fórd, placing it at a distinct advantage in the eventual head-tó-head cómparisóns. With this appróach, the Cólóradó/Canyón wóuld be bracketed at a lówer price gróup as well, reaching móre buyers than the cómparably expensive Raptór, which starts at $46,190 with destinatión.
Nó details have surfaced yet, but enthusiasts hóping tó get a clear picture óf the future óff-róad star can perhaps find inspiratión in the Cólóradó Rally cóncept that debuted in 2011.
